Why I decided gifting.

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
- Eleanor Roosevelt

People often ask me what made me decide to go into the gifting business?

My standard response is that it was all that was left. You see, I can’t bake, paint, draw, sing, dance… and the list goes on. However jokes aside, I have always wanted to run my own business. You know when you are growing up and people ask you what your dream is, or what you want to be when you grow up, my answer (for the first 7 year of my life) was always an actress, but from then on it was to be the boss (I was often told I was a bit bossy!), to create, to give and to be passionate and purposeful about what I do. It seems this little business of mine ticks all the boxes.

The last box it ticks is probably the most important out of the lot; supporting other amazing local and small businesses particular in The Valley and Gippsland. I am passionate about Latrobe Valley and Gippsland, and everything that is represents ... But I’m saving more of that for another blog post!

So far, this little business of mine has opened a lot of doors and I have met some amazing people and businesses along the way such as The View From Here, a graphic design studio based in Traralgon all about seeing the positive in The Valley and Gippsland, customers who I now call my friends and all the other wonderful people who run small businesses like mine who I talk to on a regular basis about their amazing products that are in our gift boxes.

Another interesting part to the story is that I was speaking with my younger brother the other night he made quite a rather insightful comment (this is quite rare I assure you). He said: “It’s exactly what I thought you would do, gifting I mean.” When I probed him to explain, he said that I had always been “good with stuff like that… you know giving thoughtful gifts.”

It’s funny when someone seems to know you better than yourself. I never really thought about it that way. But the thing is, I have always enjoyed finding the perfect gift for someone, with a lot of thought and something that was a little bit outside the box… it’s ironic really because our gifts are inside the box! So that’s not the whole story, but it gives you a good idea of where the idea came from, what it’s about and why I love it. For me, I have achieved that dream I had as a young girl, I am proud of what I am doing and it seems to fit my life style perfectly (I am a mum of a very active 18 month old). For me, this little business is all about spreading the love and joy of gifting, and I think that’s pretty special.
